Ruins of the Space Age

.

All Ballard fans will recognize my situation above:  Standing before a cracked and empty kidney-shaped swimming pool at the bottom of which is a drift of dead leaves.

Thursday, Marianne and I went to the Morven Museum in Princeton.to see the Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins exhibit.  I'll be blogging about it on Monday.

  1. Strange, random grooves among the dead leaves?

  2. Hah! No, I didn't look. I think I'm happier with that particular waveform uncollapsed.

  3. Once I overheard a woman on some talk radio show (in a totally non sfnal, non Ballardian context) describing something as old-fashioned by saying "it's like something from back in the Space Age".

    Sobering really.

(You have spam in the entry above, btw.)

  4. Oddly, considering Ballard's introduction of "an elaborate ideogram like a Chinese character" right at the start of the story, this could be one time -- maybe the only time -- when a spam is, if not welcome, at least somewhat congruent (sic) with the content.

  5. An elegant point, Keith. But I removed it anyway.
